Praised by the New York Times during its US tour, Pichet Klunchun Dance Company's Chui Chai finally lands in Bangkok at Patravadi Theatre. Chui Chai, which means transformation, is part of the "Nang Loi" episode from the Ramakian epic. In the episode, demon maiden Benyakai was ordered by her uncle Todsakarn, the demon king, to transform herself to Sita, the wife of his enemy King Rama, as a trick to stop the war. The task of transformation is almost impossible, however Benyakai obliges. Pichet Klunchun highlights the difficulty in Benyakai's task, echoing Thailand's uneasy passage into modernity. At one level he represents the changes in Thai society from the Ayutthya period to the present by various dance forms. In another vein, uncertainties and doubts about the nation become an undercurrent in the work, provoking thoughts about the identity of Thailand and its people. The lighting is designed by Asako Miura and music directed by Sinnapa Sarasas.
Nowadays, Thailand culture it lost form eyes of people and they not give interesting for this culture.First, I feel congratulate with people who mix the new culture with old culture for make new show and it interesting form foreign. Next, In my opinion i think a various dance can make people in Thailand feel interesting in new style with dance in our culture. Later, I need people go to see this show and proud our culture is good and not same other country. Finally, I think Thai dance is very hard to do or show because it have more detail for do and that make a value of the show.
